TCDIA is a registered not-for-profit network organization of State Licensed Professional Investigators who are additionally Board Certified as Criminal Investigative Specialists. The Founding members are the original five licensed professional investigators who formed the organization. Charter members are all those members who joined the association and were certified prior to October 31, 2006.

Mission

Based upon the principle of law that every person is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty and in accordance with the spirit of the law of the United States and Texas Constitutions and the Fair Defense Act passed by the Texas Legislature in 2001, the singular mission of the members of this Association shall be to perform fair, thorough, and complete defense investigations on behalf of persons who have been charged with crimes in Texas. Each member of TCDIA swears allegiance to the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution and gives his solemn oath to assuring due process for any citizen who is charged with a crime in the State of Texas regardless of race, creed, sex, or national origin.

As professional investigators, it shall be the member's responsibility to perform the following duties in each case:
bullet Establish through admissible evidence the complete factual basis of the case
bullet Collect, preserve, and present evidence on behalf of the defendant
bullet Examine the authenticity and completeness of evidence against the person charged
bullet In all instances that it is discovered to expose wrong doing, malfeasance, and misfeasance by law enforcement officers or prosecutors
bullet Testify truthfully in regard to the factual evidence of which the investigator has percipient knowledge.
bullet Assist the defense attorney during pretrial discovery and during the conduction of the trial.
